Okemo Mountain School hosted it’s third annual Shred The Gnar Snowboard Camp in February and here is the video. Includes riding from campers; John Garoutte, Austin Rebetz, Ben Black, Anna Valentine, Otto Lichtensteiger, Charlie Berry, Joey Okesson, Abigail Schmidt, and Camille Stengel. Also includes some shredding from some of the OMS athletes as well.
Each camp has a different emphasis and includes on-snow training from 8 am-12:30 pm followed by academics from 12:30-3 pm. It’s a great opportunity for weekend athletes to experience the daily life of training at academics at a winter sports academy.
Travel Camp: December 4th – December 11th in Summit County, CO.
Shred the Gnar Camp (STG): February 3rd -February 7th: The STG Camp is our Freestyle specific camp. At least 75% of the time will be spent in the parks and pipe dialing in technical tricks on rails, boxes and jumps and aerial maneuvers and rad grabs in the pipe. This is a great time to join us as the Okemo parks are always in tip-top shape!
Spring Cleanup Snowboard Camp (SCSC): March 17th-18th: The SCSC is the last Camp we offer. This Camp is designated for athletes who are competing in Nationals and need that extra week of training and conditioning prior to Nationals in April. Every discipline will be covered including, park and pipe, GS/Slalom (Groms), and Boardercross (Groms).
July 6-20th: OMS Mount Hood Snowboard On-Snow Camp – This summer Okemo Mountain School will be offering a summer snowboard camp at Mount Hood in conjunction with the alpine and freestyle camps. We will travel to Oregon to train on Mount Hood’s Palmer Glacier – one of the most popular summer training venues in the world. The athletes will stay with coaches in condominiums in Government Camp, Oregon right at the base of Mount Hood and the Timberline Ski Area. The athletes will enjoy 10 days on snow (weather permitting), a variety of fun conditioning activities, as well as a day off adventure! Athletes will be able to take advantage of the soft snow and great parks to learn new tricks to bring into the 2017-2018 season. We will fly as a group to Portland, OR (departure airport TBD). The cost of the camp will be all inclusive from the time the plane departs to when we return – air and ground transportation, food, lodging, coaching, lift tickets, and group activity costs will all be included. This camp is appropriate for athletes who will be 12 or older for the 2017-2018 season. Younger athletes will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Space is limited on this trip and we expect this camp to fill fast!
Paperwork and information will follow upon receipt of $1,500 deposit due by April 20th. Dates may change 1 or 2 days depending on airfare. Estimated cost is $3,800.
