Okemo Mountain School is offering a Fall Fundamentals Camp at Keystone Resort in Colorado from November 9-21st to access early season freeskiing and training. This will be a valuable opportunity to get in some early season fundamentals work prior to being able to be on-snow in Vermont. This camp is mainly geared towards U14+ athletes, but U12s will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The athletic focus will be gaining mileage on snow and establishing solid fundamentals for the beginning of the season.
Estimated Cost:
$3,000 for OMS athletes enrolled during the month of November.
$4,000 for OMS athletes or others not enrolled during the month of November. Okemo Competition Center athletes and athletes from other programs are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Cost includes lodging, breakfast, dinner, lunch supplies (athletes must make for themselves to bring to the mountain), ground transportation, coaching fees, lane / training fees.
Cost DOES NOT include lift access at Keystone (but Keystone is accessible with the Epic Pass/Epic Local Pass), airfare, lunch if purchased at the mountain, or meals when traveling to/from Colorado.
For any athletes wishing to attend as day campers (no lodging or meals provided), the estimated cost is:
$1,800 for OMS athletes enrolled during the month of November.
$2,800 for OMS athletes or others not enrolled during the month of November.
***Final cost TBD based on the number of campers***
Deposits are due on Friday 10/6 and final cost will be determined shortly after this date.
Air Travel:
The coaches will be booked on a flight TBD. Any athletes wishing to travel with the coaches should book the same flights. If your athlete is under 15 years old, you will want to book with Winter Park Travel (see below) to associate with the coaches’ tickets and avoid additional fees. If anyone chooses to travel a different flight itinerary, they may need to use the Epic Mountain Express for travel from the airport to Keystone unless they land at or before the Denver arrival time.

Lodging and meals:
Coaches and campers will stay in a large condo (or two if necessary for the number of campers) at the base of Keystone. Each camper will have their own bed, but may be sharing a bedroom with other campers. Meals will be prepared at the condo for breakfast and dinner. Campers will be provided with an assortment of breakfast foods which they can prepare themselves. Campers will work in teams with coach supervision to prepare family style dinners. Lunches will be eaten at on-mountain locations and campers will need to purchase these meals themselves.

Academics:
Currently enrolled OMS student-athletes will work with their OMS teachers over the course of the camp via a combination of email correspondence and phone/video conferencing contact (as schedule allows). They will be expected to continue working through their assignments at a reasonable pace using their study hall time wisely and requesting additional school time from the coaches if needed. Campers who are not currently enrolled OMS student-athletes will also be expected to complete school work that they have personally arranged from their sending schools during the study hall times. Should the need for any subject specific support arise, OMS can provide remote tutoring for non-OMS campers on an as needed basis - final arrangements TBD. Should you wish to explore this option, please contact Mariel Meringolo (mmeringolo@okemomountainschool.org). If camp enrollment is high enough, OMS will send a member of our teaching faculty on the trip to help coordinate academics and oversee study halls for all campers.
COVID-19 Information:
Any COVID-19 specific camp protocols will be shared in full prior to departure. We do not anticipate requiring protocol beyond the isolation and testing of symptomatic individuals; however, please be aware of the following: All campers MUST have completed at least their primary series of the COVID-19 Vaccine prior to departure and be 14 days past their second dose by 11/9/22.
Proof of vaccination will be required via a secure OMS form. This link will be sent once you register. OMS student-athletes who have already submitted this form do not need to do so again. All camp coaches are vaccinated.
