2025 Closing Ceremonies & Awards

Closing Ceremonies

We gathered together on March 22nd at the Jackson Gore Round House to celebrate our student-athletes accomplishments and to graduate our 2025 senior class!

A Letter from Head of School

Dear Student-Athletes,

It is almost unbelievable to be at the end of another Winter Term, and yet, here we are celebrating the accomplishments of you all!

We spend a lot of time thinking about travelling downhill, as you strive to throw the best trick or exhibit the best style while travelling downhill or be the fastest to go downhill.  However, I think if we stop and think, it’s really the uphill climbs that have defined your growth and success.  Your perseverance in striving to reach new heights, achieve goals, and overcome obstacles. Now, sometimes you have slumps, but I see you all on a strong uphill trajectory.  Little ups and downs along the way, but you are all headed uphill.  Graduating seniors, you are at a peak in your uphill climb and you are about to embark on a new adventure in college which will mark the beginning of a new climb, or the continuation of your current one, depending on how you look at it.  To all of the younger student-athletes, remember that the effort you put in to “climb your hill” each day, each week, each season, is what defines you and what will bring you the growth and success you seek.

You truly have had an incredible season of growth and success.   Across all three of our snow sport disciplines and in all of our alpine age groups, we have student-athletes who have, or will before the end of the season, compete at the highest levels within their discipline and they are coming out on top.

Beyond athletics, your academic accomplishments sit right beside the athletic ones and shine just as brightly.  You are an incredibly driven and intrinsically motivated group of student-athletes who love learning for the sake of knowing more.  I am so proud of you all for how hard you work to balance your athletics and academics.

These accomplishments aside, I challenge you all to remember that success is relative and comes in different measurable amounts for each of us.  I believe that OMS is full of success stories and that no one story outshines the other.  I am proud of all of you for being hard-working, motivated individuals, each possessing a unique personality without which our community would not be complete.

And on that note, never forget the importance of a supportive community and be grateful for the one we have.  Teachers working tirelessly to accommodate your crazy competition schedules and make sure that they still learn all they need to know, coaches working long hours in all conditions to support athletic growth and development, and you all supporting each other through all of the ups and downs.  Snow sports are TOUGH and though they are technically individual sports without having a strong team behind you, you won’t make it to the top.  You all are lucky to be able to BOTH have that support and provide that support to each other.  Please keep striving to always be the best teammate you can be!  And parents, who are the backbone of it all – sacrificing so much for you so that you can pursue your dreams and being there for you through the ups and downs.

Again thank you to all of you and to all of our teachers, coaches, and families! Please read on to learn more about all of the awards that were given out at our 2025 Closing Ceremonies.

All the best,

Mariel
